Everything you want to know about Installers Connect
Straight answers to the questions we hear most from tradespeople considering a virtual receptionist service.
A virtual receptionist is a real, trained person who answers your business phone calls on your behalf. When a customer calls your number, they are greeted in your business name by one of our UK-based receptionists, not a robot or an automated menu.
We handle the call, capture the information you need, and then send you a full summary by SMS and email so you can call the customer back when it suits you.
We work with a wide range of tradespeople across the UK, including plumbers, gas engineers, electricians, heating engineers, boiler specialists, builders, roofers, tilers, plasterers, painters, and carpenters.
If you work in the trades and take inbound calls from customers, Installers Connect is built for you. We tailor the script and qualification questions to your specific trade during onboarding.
You can do either. Most customers simply set up a call divert on their existing mobile or landline so all calls come through to us automatically. Your number stays the same and your customers are none the wiser.
Alternatively, we can provide you with a dedicated number you publish on your website, van, or leaflets, and all calls to that number come straight to us.
No. We answer in your business name and present ourselves as your team. Callers experience a professional, friendly greeting without any indication they have reached an external service.
We only disclose that we are a third-party answering service if a customer directly and persistently asks.
We aim to answer every call within three rings. That is typically under ten seconds. In practice, the vast majority of calls are answered before the fourth ring.
If for any reason we cannot answer immediately (extremely high call volume, for example), we will return the call within a few minutes.
As a baseline we capture: full name, contact number, address and postcode, property type, a detailed description of the job, how urgent it is, and the customer's preferred appointment time.
For appliance jobs we also ask about make, model, and any error codes. You can add your own custom questions during onboarding so we always capture what matters most to your trade.
The moment a call ends, we send you a full summary by SMS and email. The SMS gives you the key details at a glance. The email contains the complete job sheet so you have everything you need before you call the customer back.
On Super Connect, we can also attempt a live call transfer to your mobile so you can speak to the customer directly while they are still on the line.
Yes. We offer full diary management as part of our service. We can integrate with your existing calendar (Google Calendar, Outlook, iCal, Jobber, Tradify, and more), or we can set up a new one for you.
When a customer calls, we check your availability in real time and confirm the appointment on the spot, so the customer hangs up with a confirmed booking rather than a "we will call you back."
On our Super Connect plan, we answer calls from 7am to midnight, Monday to Saturday. Any emergency calls that come in during those hours are handled in full and sent to you immediately.
We triage calls so urgent and emergency jobs are clearly flagged, letting you decide quickly which ones to prioritise or attend outside normal working hours.
We have two plans. Simply Connect is £100 per month plus VAT and covers your calls during standard business hours. Super Connect is £150 per month plus VAT and extends cover to 7am through midnight, Monday to Saturday, with live call transfer and priority handling for emergency jobs.
Both plans include full job qualification, SMS and email alerts, and a dedicated account setup.
No setup fees and no hidden charges. The monthly price is what you pay. There are no per-call charges, no overage fees, and no cost for onboarding.
All prices shown are plus VAT at the standard rate.
No long-term contracts. We operate on a rolling monthly basis. You can cancel at any time with one month's notice.
We believe if the service is good, you will stay. We do not need to lock you in to keep your business.
Yes, at any time. If your workload increases and you need extended cover, upgrading to Super Connect takes effect from the start of your next billing period. Downgrading works the same way.
Just contact us and we will sort it out with no fuss.
Simply Connect covers your calls during standard business hours and is ideal for tradespeople who mainly work routine jobs and want to stop missing calls while they are on site.
Super Connect covers calls from 7am to midnight, Monday to Saturday. It also includes live call transfer, priority emergency handling, and is designed for tradespeople who offer emergency or extended-hours services and cannot afford to miss any call, any time.
Most customers are live within 24 hours of signing up. Once you complete the short onboarding form, we brief the team on your business, build your script, and set up your call routing. You let us know when to go live and we are ready.
Very little. The main step on your end is setting up a call divert on your phone, which takes about two minutes. We walk you through exactly how to do it for your network.
If you want diary integration, we handle the connection on our side. You just give us access to the relevant calendar and we take it from there.
Absolutely. During onboarding we build a script tailored specifically to your business, your trade, and your way of working. If you want callers to be asked certain questions, quoted specific prices, or given particular information, that all goes into the script.
You can update your script at any time. Just contact your account manager and changes are usually live within one business day.
Just let us know your dates in advance and we update the script accordingly. Callers can be told you are unavailable until a specific date and offered the choice to leave their details for a callback when you return, or to be referred to alternative information you provide.
Your calls still get answered, your customers still feel looked after, and you come back to a clean, organised list of every enquiry that came in while you were away.
Yes. If you are at full capacity and do not want to take new bookings for a period, let us know and we will update your script to reflect that. Callers will still be answered professionally and can either leave their details for when you have availability, or be given a date when you expect to open up again.
Yes. Every call is logged with a full record including the caller's details, the job description, the time of the call, and the action taken. You receive this via email in real time and can also access a summary on request.
We keep call records for 90 days as standard.
You can cancel at any time by contacting us directly at connect@installers-connect.com. We require one month's notice and will confirm your cancellation in writing. There are no cancellation fees.
We will continue to handle your calls until the end of the notice period and make sure the handover is clean.
We are registered as BCC Connect Ltd and comply fully with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. All call data is stored securely on UK-based servers, retained for 90 days, and never shared with third parties.
